Shawin Hospital

In 2020, The Mothers of Good Hope began their biggest initiative yet: Shawin Hospital. A local hospital that would serve over 30,000 members of the Budaka, Butebo, and Palissa districts in Eastern Uganda.

Backstory

The idea for Shawin Hospital was formed after the tragic and untimely deaths of her two younger sister. Due to the poor medical treatments and faulty equipment used in improper procedures, many people, delivering mothers especially, suffer from the same tragedies. Most people in this area of Uganda, suffer from extreme poverty and are unable to spare the funds for good medical treatments. They resort to cheap alternatives or avoid treatment at all. Both of these tend to result in further medical complications or death. Because of the fear of losing their hard earned money, they avoid hospitals at all costs. The Mothers of Good Hope aims to solve this problem by creating a safe and affordable place for the local people to seek help and medical attention. Shawin Hospital will provide all services to mothers and children for free in attempt to fulfill this mission.

Our Facilities

Though still building certain features of the hospital, we currently have many newly constructed facilties to service men, women, and children who are in need of medical attention and may not have the funds to spare for treatment.

The constructing of Shawin Hospital

Our Needs

As a small non-profit organization in Eastern Uganda, we are operating on limited funds and the process for our hospital moves slow. We are able to open our doors with the limited facilities we have, but are still lacking many important features to serve the greater community.

Donate to the Hospital

Staff Housing will allow our medical staff to remain on site and close to patients in need of immediate attention. This will also allow our medical staff to be available for house calls and remote visits in the surrounding districts.

The Medical Learning Center will be built behind our hospital location and will stand as a learning institute for those wishing to learn and practice modern medicine. The school will offer an affordable education to community members wishing to pursue their passion of acquiring medical skills.

The Hospital Expansion is our plan to expand our current facilities to include more specialized areas of expertise including a NICU, Intensive Care Unit, MRI and CT scanners.

The Future of Shawin Hospital

With the limited resources we have acquired, Shawin Hospital has been able to open its doors to the community though there are still many plans that we are hoping to implement as soon as funds allow.

Our goal has been to devote our efforts to opening the general hospital to provide medical resources to the people in our districts who would otherwise be without any such aid due to both the crippling levels of poverty and the remoteness of their location deep in the villages.

Now that this goal is well underway of being achieved, we hope to move forward with the next steps to making Shawin Hospital as beneficial and resourceful to the community as we first envisioned.
